A labor of love for Rock Island

Aunt Bea's Cafe began as one woman's dream to bring warmth, community, and real Southern cooking to the west side of Rock Island. Owner Bea Harrington opened her doors with a simple mission: care for people who couldn't always provide for themselves, and feed every guest like family.

More than three decades later, nothing has changed — and that's exactly the point. Bea still does the cooking herself, every single day, from scratch. The collard greens, the meatloaf, the biscuits and gravy, the catfish — all made with the same love she put into the very first plate she served.

"I want to show people there is someone who does care and that anyone can make it. I care and I want to provide for those who can't provide for themselves."
— Bea Smith, Owner · Quad-City Times

Reviewers have driven from Wisconsin, traveled through Illinois, and crossed the Quad Cities just to sit down at one of Bea's red-checked tables. Grandma's cooking in a diner you never want to leave.

"Down home setting. Real home cooking. Biscuits and gravy were as authentic as you're going to find in the Midwest. I'll definitely remember this place."

"The meatloaf dinner with mashed taters, gravy and Mac n cheese. My better half got the bacon cheeseburger — he said it was one of the best burgers he's had in a long time!"
